Unbiased Employee Financial Wellness Coaching

One-on-one workplace financial wellness coaching for employers with less than 500 employees. Experienced, unbiased financial coaching for your employees at a price point your HR budget can support.

More about me...

I'm Kelley Long, CPA/PFS, CFP® and fierce believer in providing access to the best personal finance education and guidance to everyone, without any sales pitch or product sales, in a no-BS, tell-it-like-it-is manner. I've worked in the financial services industry in a variety of roles for over 20 years and what I've learned about how money works in the United States is something I think EVERYONE should know.

For example, where you choose to open an IRA account will depend greatly on how much help you want managing it going forward - there are ways to do it virtually for free if you know what you're doing, but if you go to your local bank branch, you'll most likely be introduced to an investment person who will only make money if they sign you up and charge a commission on your account, often through the sale of an annuity. If you're looking for fixed, guaranteed income from your IRA, that's great. But if you're not sure, you're not likely to be given the other options. That's not the bank's fault - those folks typically don't even know about the other options out there! My mission is to help you learn how to discover those other options and make the best decision for yourself.

My history

Before I went out on my own, I was a Senior Financial Planner for Financial Finesse, a premier provider of unbiased financial wellness solutions to Fortune 1000 companies. During my time there, I enhanced my financial coaching skills and became an expert on behavioral change, helping over 2,500 employees improve their financial wellness and learn to make the best money decisions for their lives.

I was also heavily involved in the content production side of the business, writing the majority of the employee-facing content that employers use to guide their employees in financial decision-making. I not only understand what motivates people to make better financial decisions in their lives, I have a deep understanding of the best practices to compel employees to utilize their employee benefits in the first place.

For more about the impact I had on the employees I worked with, I invite you to watch this powerful testimonial video from a former client that I helped move from feeling confused and lost to buying her first home and feeling excited about a new future she created.

Testimonials

Kelley has a personalized approach that empowers her clients to take charge of their money mindset!

Kelley coached a workshop for my team that was informative and empowering. She takes big concepts and breaks them down into actionable bite-sized pieces which made a concept that can be extremely overwhelming feel more straightforward and manageable, sometimes even fun! Her approach allowed us to feel comfortable asking questions and digging deeper to identify our true goals in life.
Kelley’s coaching helped me remove finance as a barrier to bliss and it was absolutely life-altering. I highly recommend working with her! - Liza

Kelley has a GIFT of asking the right questions and articulating her financial knowledge in a way that others can understand

Kelley is WONDERFUL. She is genuine, authentic, and has a way of setting you at ease, which isn’t always easy when discussing money! I’m a former CPA, so I’d like to think that I know some things as it relates to numbers. Kelley not only acknowledged my background and what I understood but also did a great job of asking me questions that helped me understand what was driving a number of my financial decisions. Finally, I started working with Kelley when I was single and continued working with Kelley with my fiancé. She is great at both, but especially great at helping me and my fiancé start navigating some of our future money decisions. We both adore her! - Jess

Kelley had so much valuable information to share + such a great resource!

Financial health is something I started to prioritize and take seriously as I entered my 30s. I truly didn’t know where to begin and Kelley was such a great guide. Not only helping me uncover some of my beliefs and perceptions surrounding finances and money, but also to get clear on my own personal financial goals. She demystified some financial information for me, and also offered a wealth of knowledge so that I could make decisions that made sense in my life. I have already sent some friends her direction, but I would highly recommend Kelley to anyone and everyone! - Nicole

Working with Kelley empowered me to take the right steps with my personal finances and was transformative to my well-being

My very first session with Kelley was the best therapy session of my life. It was the first time I had ever found myself saying out loud how I actually felt about my finances. It was the first time I really, truly talked about money, what it meant to me, what it meant to my family growing up. Working with Kelley was the first time I was actually able to identify my financial priorities, to accept them, and to get to work on making plans to achieve them. The cumulative result of our work has put me in control of my finances.  - Tina

    • Making the most of your employee benefits

My needs might exceed what one person can provide. How would that work?

No problem, I have a network of fellow experienced financial coaches that I hold in the highest esteem that I can tap to help in situations where you may wish to offer one-on-one coaching to hundreds of employees in a short period of time.

What do your services cost?

The cost of my services will depend greatly on what you need from me. Some employers simply seek a day or two of one-on-one appointments for their employees to work with me confidentially, while others are in need of a more comprehensive engagement, including having me consult on program design, communication and delivery. We'll discuss your budget and the outcomes you seek during our initial phone call and then I'll put together a proposal to address those needs. Costs will depend on the amount of time needed to provide the services, any travel involved and how much help you'd like me to provide in preparing for the implementation of my services.

How do you measure the effectiveness of your services?

This is a matter of great debate in the financial wellness world, to be candid. The best way to measure the ROI of a financial wellness program is to look at a variety of factors over several years, including measuring the increase in contributions to employee retirement plans, reduced employee absenteeism (financial stress is a catalyst to a multitude of physical and mental health issues that lead to increased absenteeism), increased utilization of other benefits, including those that offer a savings to employers such as payroll deposits to Health Savings Accounts.

There's also the intangible impact that providing support to your employees around their financial wellness provides. Surveys find that employers are increasingly agreeing that helping employees address their financial wellbeing is "the right thing to do," and are feeling increasingly responsible for their employees' financial wellness. If you wish, we can employ a survey to measure employee perception of their own financial wellbeing before and after their use of my services to provide insight into their perceptions as well.

How do I get started?

Because each company's needs are vastly different, the best way to get started is to contact me to schedule a call or Zoom meeting and discuss your needs. I'll want to know things like whether there are specific issues you are seeking to address such as an aging employee population seeking pre-retirement guidance or a young population experiencing sudden wealth due to a recent IPO. along with company-specific things like the communications culture, your budget and the timing of your need.
